Which night is yours?

The lights are off. The day isn't.

  1. 11:07 PM

Replaying the meeting. One thought pulls the next.

  2. 12:38 AM

Watching one more video you don't even want.

  3. 2:43 AM

Wide awake. Counting the hours you have left.

  4. Sunday 10:16 PM

Tomorrow has already started in your head.

Melatonin, white noise, meditation apps, podcasts until 3am — many people try them all. If none of it stuck, it's not you. Silence is exactly what a loud mind can't hold. It needs somewhere to go.

And it feeds on itself:

Can't rest Feel more wired Rest even less

Let's go somewhere quieter.

The ritual

The Two-Minute Descent.

Setup takes two minutes. The rest asks nothing of you.

01

Open the patch

Tear the seal. Cold mineral air — or woodsmoke — and your body gets the message: the day is over.

02

Press play

Lie down. In the app, a narrator meets you at the edge of a glacier at dusk. Headphones optional.

03

Follow the voice

Your attention holds onto the story instead of the day's noise. That's the whole trick — and why there's nothing to master.

04

Drift

Rest isn't forced. You give your attention one quiet scene to follow — and let the night do the rest. Some testers told us they didn't always hear the end of a track.

From “Patagonian Glacier Walk” — opening lines

“You're standing where the ice meets the water. The air is glass-cold and perfectly still. Somewhere behind you is the day you had — you can leave it there. Walk with me. We're not in a hurry anymore.”

Why it works

Scent is a back door to a busy brain.

You're not missing willpower or a better pillow. Your brain never gets a clear signal that the day is over. Gap Moment builds that signal from two directions at once.

Drug-free

No melatonin, sedatives, or hormones. Nothing to swallow, nothing to build a tolerance to.

Inspired by attention redirection

Built on attention redirection — the idea behind cognitive approaches to sleep — not on forcing yourself under.

Scent + story

A physical cue your body learns, plus a guided path your mind can follow somewhere quieter.

The mechanism, and the research it draws on

The scent anchors

Smell has an unusually direct route into the brain's emotion and memory centers. One breath of cold mineral air or woodsmoke can move you somewhere else before you've decided anything.

Night after night, the same scent comes to mean one thing: the day is over.

The story occupies

A guided scene gives your attention one calm thing to follow. A mind walking a glacier at dusk has less room to rehearse tomorrow's meeting.

Researchers call it redirecting pre-sleep thought. For you, it can simply mean quiet.

In a 2002 study, researchers found guided imagery helped redirect unwanted pre-sleep thoughts — no medication, no sleep restriction, just the imagery. We built the ritual on that idea; it inspires Gap Moment rather than guaranteeing results.

Harvey & Payne (2002), Behaviour Research and TherapyPubMed 11863237

Guided imagery is one of the techniques used within cognitive behavioral approaches to sleep. Gap Moment adapts that attention-redirection idea into a simple, non-medical ritual you can run at home.

American College of Physicians (2016), Annals of Internal MedicineClinical Guideline

So how is it different from what you've already tried?

Gives a racing mind somewhere to go No training, no log, no appointments Nothing to swallow Non-habit-forming
Gap Moment scent + story
Meditation / mindfulness needs a calm start
CBT-I (clinical program) weekly sessions + diary
Sleeping pills a medical option, not an attention ritual
Melatonin a timing signal, not a wind-down ritual sometimes

A note on the science: the guided-imagery and scent techniques referenced here have been studied by researchers — but Gap Moment itself is a wellness ritual, not a clinical or medical product, and it isn't designed to replace professional care. If you're already working with a professional on sleep or anxiety, loop them in on anything new you try.

Founding pricing is held for early sign-ups and shared before we launch.

And then — morning. The night let go while you weren't watching.

Honest expectations

A ritual, not a one-night trick.

Night 1

The narrator gives your attention one scene to follow. Nothing to get right, nothing to grade.

Week 1

The scent starts to mean something. This smell = the day is over. The descent begins at the first breath.

Week 3+

The ritual starts to feel familiar. Patch, play, follow — rest becomes easier to return to.

Individual experience varies — the ritual works through repetition — give it a few nights. That honesty is the whole point.

Before you ask

Honest answers.

Is this just another meditation app?
No. Many meditation apps ask you to notice your thoughts or practice attention over time. Gap Moment gives you a physical scent cue and a guided story to follow right away — no technique to learn.
How much will the kit cost?
Final launch pricing will be shared before checkout. Reserving is free and commits you to nothing. Founding members receive early access to the founding launch offer.
Will it make me drowsy or groggy?
No. There are no drugs and nothing sedating. It helps you settle into rest, so you feel calm — not knocked out. Use it midday without losing your afternoon.
Are the ingredients safe and natural?
The patches use a natural fragrance blend designed for passive ambient scent, not skin application. Full ingredient and allergen information will be published before purchase. If you're sensitive to fragrance, have asthma, are pregnant, or are under medical care, check with a professional before use.
What do I actually get for signing up now?
A reserved founding spot — free — nothing to buy today. You'll be first to know when we launch, with founding pricing held for early subscribers. After signing up, you can optionally secure your spot with a fully refundable US$1 hold — your free reservation stands either way.
When does it ship?
We're launching in Q3 2026. Subscribers hear the launch date first, with founding pricing held for them. Kits ship after launch — exact timing will be shared by email.
What's physically in the kit?
Each kit includes 4 scenes. Every scene ships with 4 natural scent patches — 16 patches total. Your kit also includes a 90-day access code for the Gap Moment app (iOS & Android). Activate with your code, no subscription needed. Everything arrives in one box after launch.
Does the scent patch go on my skin?
No. The patches are designed to be held nearby or placed on a surface close to you — not applied to skin. They release scent passively through the air. Nothing to apply, nothing to wash off.

Tonight, it comes back around. Somewhere quiet is waiting.
